Meditation, How it works, and What it Does to Body and Mind
Guest: Vikky Santana, 500 RYT
You know how we always hear about the benefits of something: walking more, drinking more water, cutting back on sugar, or whatever. All kinds of well-meaning advise. The thing is, it doesn’t really register until you hear someone you truly admire talking about it. That’s exactly what happened to me. In recent years I’ve encountered many mentors. People I look up to for their creative work and analytical thinking. These are my creative role models and they are best selling authors, entrepreneurs, professors, scientists, and researchers. And the one thing they all have in common is a daily meditation practice. In fact, they not only credit meditation with helping them regulate daily stress and mental reactiveness, but also with giving them the discipline, the clarity, the productivity, and the creative thinking that paved the way to their great achievements.
Noticing that my role models attributed at least part of their success to meditation, I decided it was time for me to incorporate meditation into my own daily routine, not to just get good at meditation for the sake of meditation, but to get better at my craft and to get better at life. For me, meditation is becoming more and more a practical life-hacking tool to use in my work and my life in general. If like me, you want to learn more about meditation, how it works and what it can do for you, you don’t want to miss this next episode.
Our guest today is a 500-hour RYT, Born and raised in Miami, FL. She was first introduced to yoga 30 years ago, it wasn’t until the birth of her daughter 17 years ago that she really saw her life’s purpose. She wholehartedly credits yoga with saving her life and has dedicated herself to the lessons and practices of yoga ever since. Her training’s classic, orthodox Yoga. But her teaching style’s anything but traditional as she distills the ancient practices of yoga in a way that make sense for today’s practicioners. She’s the Team Lead for Hot Yoga and leads the Yoga Certification program at Evolution Yoga in Coconut Creek, Florida. She’s also the creator and founder of KriYin® Yoga
